Dusk Under a Blue Light

the radio plays
long after i have
shut it off
mack the knife over
and over, mackies back
in town, these little town blues
New York New York
us us us and them them them
somebody please scratch my itch
foot tapping to crocodile rock
the pot simmers
twigs and things
embers of another time
smoke signals trace my dawn
love trembles at love
like coins along a railroad track
the red wine misses my lips
beertender get me a taxi
no make that a cab
black with yellow wheels
is it raining again
does it ever stop
like a beeper in an elevator
or a tumbled sky scraper
i'm crushed
do horizons reflect back at us
i wonder
my bathing suit doesn't fit
does yours
my hose is twisted in knots
who's on deck
